One Simple Way To Improve Your Client Experience

One of the most important aspects of business is the client experience. You can have incredible photography, but if your client has a hard time contacting you or communicating their needs, they’re probably not going to have a good experience. This could meanΒ fewer referrals for you. There are SO many things you can do to create a unique and unforgettable experience for your clients, but read on for one simple, fool-proof way you can improve your client experience starting today.

Ideally, before a client contacts me, they’ve gotten to know a little about me from social media or my website. They’ve reviewed my work and are interested in the services I offer. This is great for them, as they have an icebreaker, I, on the other hand, do not. Isn’t it a little awkward when someone knows more about you than you do them? I want all of my clients to feel welcome right from the start because my ultimate goal is to form a long-term relationship, not a business transaction.

So, to avoid the tricky opening conversation and cut right through the nonsense, I integrated questionnaires into my initial contact phase. Once a client emails me and selects the service most suited to their needs, a questionnaire is sent over asking a few questions to get to know them just a little better. For family portrait clients there are basic questions about their family, their style, favorite colors, and what makes them unique. With my portrait and boudoir clients, I ask about their favorite celebrities, what they’re celebrating (even if it’s just themselves) and find out if they would like to be photographed with anyone else. This allows me to get a clear idea of what type of session they’re looking for, the mood they want to set, and so I can tailor every session uniquely to them.

I love being able to select the perfect outfits, locations, and settings for my clients, and the questionnaires make it SO much easier to do! This little step helps me make sure my clients know that I care about them. And they appreciate that I took the time to get to know them and make their experience extra special!
